Charlie and I met while we were both living in Laguna Beach, California. We have been married for just over 4 years and moved to NJ in summer 94 when Charlie got a big promotion. Our ultimate goal is to get back to California..... we both miss it very much. I lived there for 13 years and call it home, even though I am originally from England. Living on the East coast is like moving to another country for both of us.
We started the adoption process in March of 96 and finally got all our paperwork together and sent to China on 10/17/96. It took us a long time for a couple of reasons: My paperwork had to come from England and also because 3 times my fingerprints were submitted and 3 times were rejected as 'unreadable', too faint or something. Anyhow, they finally accepted the 4th lot....I was becoming somewhat of a familiar face down at the local constabulary!
I should mention that during this paper-collecting time we had signed on with a small, local agency called Seedlings. They are a very good agency and I would recommend them to anyone.
My husband is Director of Sales at a company called Olflex located in Fairfield and I work with a group of 12 newspapers in the advertising dept. This is a second marriage for both of us, neither one of us with children. Charlie is 46 and I am 47, but we don't feel a day over 35! I am stopping work when the time comes, and I am thankful to be in a position to do that.
I come from a large family and never wanted children until the last couple of years. I was the next to eldest with 3 younger brothers and sisters and always had to babysit. I can remember being 13 years old and having 3 little ones ages 1, 2 and 3 to look after while my mother went to work. That cured me of maternal instincts for a long time!
